i've also heard of people (including J.F. Martel of Weird Studies) accidentally generating some spooky world-crossing phenomena with tabletop RPGs like this.
anybody doing chaos magick could probably have a ball with hypersigils in a format like this...
Thanks especially for the sci-fi suggestions at the end. I'm running a class and the star cluster mini-game in DIASPORA was great as a demo but I feel like students may need more scaffolding for their final projects.
Oh, The Perilous Void is awesome. Stars Without Number is amazing, but a little trad -- still, it'll get you to a star map in no time (check out the Sectors Without Number online tool).
Reminds me of a very similar game called “Dawn of Worlds” where the players create a world and history through different ages. Similar ideas but executed differently.
This sounds right up my alley, I collect world-history/creation games as reference for my game in development. Two of which came to mind Red Aegis by the James Brothers, an RPG with 4X elements and history creation, and Seeds of War, another 4x meets RPG concept. It is by Nicholas Nayaert published by Specta Solutions.
Man, I've used Freebooters 1st Ed for so many games. It's brilliant. Just bought World Wizard on your recommendation and looking forward to reading it.
There's at least one person here interested in hearing about your Brindlewood campaign.
And I think being a sci-fi GM is great. It's a skill I wouldn't be good at. It's not a genre I feel knowledgeable enough about to run a game and improvise with.
I’m one of your new subscribers that came from YouTube! I absolutely love your GM advice and learning from your experiences with different games/systems. I also have Blades in the Dark on my bookshelf, but I’ve pushed playing it due to the “unlimited” situations my players can put me in. I don’t think my improv is that good… yet.
Anyways, can’t wait until your next post! Hope all is well, and I will forever be crossing my fingers for the next Play Materials YouTube vid. I took a screenshot of your paper UDT from one of your videos and tried to replicate it with… moderate success. Currently running Shadowdark with it in my first ever sandbox campaign!
Nice review! I've been wanting to try out a game like that. I'm going to put this on list for when I finish my current solo games.
sounds tremendous.

(he said, schemingly).
ooooo, you got a link to that?
(sorry if this is a duplicate reply) taking care of a sick kid atm so can't listen to the ep, but i think it's the beginning of this one: https://runesoup.com/2023/05/ufos-art-and-the-imaginal-with-j-f-martel/
I just bought a copy. Looking forward to using it!
This sounds fun!
New subscriber here that came from YouTube as well! I’m loving everything here, thank you for your thoughts on all these things we enjoy.
That sounds like a really cool game. I’m going to check it out! Thanks for the write up!

Very cool. My class is going to be using real stars and planets, though we'll still have to make up most of the details.

Dawn of Worlds is an inspiration for Worldwizard! I think one of the only two games listed as inspiration.
Thanks for the rec! LOVE this, and just bought it.

Great review. Definitely going to buy Worldwizard.
This looks awesome. I can't wait to use this. Thanks for writing this up. I'll definitely be using this next time I start a game

Have you seen the 2e playtest? It’s insanely fucking cool

Hey, I'd run sci-fi campaigns all of the time, but my core core core group who's really down for epic campaigns just doesn't' love sci-fi as much.

"I'm writing fiction again." 🤩 I'm eager to see what you come up with!
